MARK BOWRA
THE REALITY BEHIND THE CAMERA
Mark Bowra was a Royal Marine. Discipline was the standard, not an option. Then came the medical discharge, a serious stroke stripped him of his speech and left him with right-side paralysis.
For over ten years, the mission changed. It wasn't to capture images; it was to reclaim the man. Eleven relentless years of rehabilitation. Today, he has regained some speech. He walks, not easily, but with the aid of a leg brace. This mindset is what creates the work you see here.

Photography is not a hobby. It is the current discipline. It functions as mandatory training on long walks, requiring the focus and patience to find beauty in environments that demand maximum physical effort.
The fight is bigger than one man. In 2019, Mark launched The Bowra Foundation. This charity is a direct deployment of his own experience, providing essential support to brain-injured individuals and fellow veterans.
